Jay Roney (1913 - 1982)
Jay Roney's major pioneering effort was working to improve public welfare programs throughout the country, first as Director of South Dakota's State Department of Public Welfare Services, then as a Consultant to the u.s. Children Bureau, and as Director of Public Assistance for four years in the
U.S. Department of Public Assistance, Health, Education, and Welfare. He then went to direct a study on needs of the agingfor the APWA which was funded by the Ford Foundation. Following this experience, he spent ten years working as a Director of Community Plarming Office, in the Social Security Administration in Baltimore.
Roney received an A.B. from Augustus College and an MSW from Case Western Reserve University. |
