Terry Mizrahi, PhD, MSSW

Terry Mizrahi, PhD, MSSW, served as President of NASW's Board of Directors from 2001-2004.  She is a Professor at Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work in New York City and Director of the Education Center for Community Organizing.  Twice elected the NASW New York City Chapter's Vice President, Dr. Mizrahi has been the Co-Chair for the Chapter's Health Care Policy and Practice Network. She also was NASW's Secretary from 1992-1994 and was elected to multiple Delegate Assemblies during the 1990s.

As a delegate, Dr. Mizrahi initiated NASW policy statements on national health care, the role of government, and managed care. She has also served on the Program and Delegate Assembly Planning committees.  Dr. Mizrahi won Hunter College's Presidential Award for Distinguished Service in 1992 and was the first social worker selected for the Primary Care Policy Fellowship.

An author of multiple social policy articles, she has served as Secretary of the Association for Community Organization and Social Administration, and is a Founder of the Journal of Community Practice.  Dr. Mizrahi holds a Master's Degree in Social Work and PhD in Social Work.  She is a member of the NASW Social Work Pioneers.
