Case Western Reserve University

Case Western Reserve University’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences is a national network of scholars and practitioners who shape the course of social work and nonprofit practice and research to drive societal change in our backyard and around the world.

We foster Change Leaders by advancing leadership in social work and nonprofit education, scholarship and service to build a more just world.

Consistently ranked among the nation’s foremost graduate schools of social work, the Mandel School remains at the forefront of decoding the history and dynamics of social work and nonprofit management.

Founded in 1915, we created the first competency-based curriculum in the nation for a school of social work approved by the Council on Social Work Education, and continue to shape social work education with our innovative generalist curriculum.

Today, the Mandel School is among the most respected schools for social work leadership and nonprofit management in America.

We offer on-campus and online master’s degree programs in social work, a master of nonprofit management degree, a PhD in social welfare, and multiple certificates and dual-degree programs with other top-ranked schools from across Case Western Reserve.

Our research shapes public policy, informing social change and transforming lives. Our students are talented, compassionate and diverse Change Leaders who are taught a rigorous, groundbreaking curriculum that will prepare them to lead social change. And our alumni are leaders in the profession, changing the world each and every day.

Our location in Cleveland, Ohio—a hub of cultural, business and healthcare activity—gives our students unparalleled access to engaging academic, research, clinical, entrepreneurial and volunteer opportunities and prepares them to join our network of 9,000+ alumni making an impact worldwide.
