Happy Holidays from the NASW Foundation!

Your Donation to the NASW Foundation Will Strengthen Social Work Across the Nation!

As 2020 draws to a close, the NASW Foundation extends deep appreciation to professional social workers who give their all each and every day to address some of society's most challenging issues. You make the world a better place and we are grateful for your skills, knowledge, energy, devotion, and compassion. Simply put, "thank you for everything you do."

We are hopeful that 2021 will bring a better tomorrow on so many fronts, including an end to the pandemic, social justice for all, and an end to racism. The Foundation remains committed to serving and promoting the social work profession, the practitioner, and the public.

As we look forward, we also take a brief look back at some of our 2020 accomplishments. We hope you will continue to partner with us and support our work in the coming new year.

The NASW Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization created in 2001 to support NASW’s educational, research, and charitable initiatives through a wide range of diverse programs and projects that serve and promote the social work profession, the practitioner, and the public.

We are committed to our core mission to enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through the advancement of social work policy and practice. Since 2001, the Foundation has raised and invested approximately $40 million in a wide array of programs and activities. We are proud of our achievements and excited to continue this important work on behalf of professional social work in 2021, our 20th Anniversary!

Highlights of 2020 Foundation Achievements

  • Awarded 50 BSW and MSW scholarships and six doctoral fellowships totaling $286,750. This includes $165,000 for 30 BSW and MSW scholarships as part of Social Work HEALS, a partnership between the NASW Foundation and the Council on Social Work Education (these scholarships administered by CSWE), and $121,750 for the NASW Foundation's long-standing scholarships and fellowships.

  • Co-Hosted, with NASW, the 2020 A Virtual Night At The Awards - A Night To Remember and awarded the Knee-Wittman Lifetime Achievement Award, the Knee-Wittman Outstanding Achievement Award, and the International Rhoda G. Sarnat Award.

  • Awarded 2020-2021 Ruth Fizdale research grants ($2000 each), to the NASW-New Jersey Chapter and the NASW-Oklahoma Chapter. The Ruth Fizdale Program underwrites chapter research projects that link practice and policy issues with relevant, emerging, social issues, in an effort to facilitate effective service delivery.

  • Managed the induction of 16 NASW Social Work Pioneers® who have contributed to the evolution and enrichment of the profession. The program identifies and recognizes individuals whose unique dedication, commitment, and determination have improved social and human conditions.

  • Trained social workers, with outside grant assistance, to provide services to clients through the NASW / Hartford Supervisory Leaders in Aging; Social Work HEALS—Social Work Healthcare Education and Leadership Scholars; Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and alcohol awareness; and many other special projects.

  • Helped the NASW Chapters to raise funds to support educational, research, training, and scholarship activities at the state and local level.

  • Worked on an array of programs and activities on behalf of international social work and efforts to raise the social work profession’s visibility.

We need your support to continue this important work. During this holiday season, we hope you will consider a generous tax-deductible donation. In addition to making a donation, please tell your colleagues, friends, and family why you believe in our work and encourage them to remember us too.
